Hi everyone, I’m Jayne I do radio plugging / general music promotion of guitar music via JD Music Promotion based in South Wales. I also designed and maintain several websites including the JD Music site, my hobby website ‘Paradiddles Plectrums and Posers’ and the website for my childhood cancer awareness project ‘Guitars 4 Good’.
Since JD Music’s inception (August 3rd 2015) I’ve been privileged to work with amazingly talented artists from the UK, Australia, the U.S., India, and of course lots of great rock from here in South Wales, including Catatonia drummer Aled Richards’ new band, grunge rockers Beyond The Break. The artists have all been played on stations (both internet based and FM radio) worldwide, and I got one of the artists played on UK national daytime television to an audience of 1.6million.Apart from radio airplay, I have also arranged interviews and acoustic sessions for bands at radio stations in their locale, and Skype interviews with studios further field, and arranged music magazine features for some of the artists. I’ve built JD Music on a foundation of good ethics and I’m proud of the testimonials the artists have given me – all of which you can read on the website.
I’ve been promoting bands since 2011 by way of Paradiddles Plectrums and Posers, which is a showcase website for guitar music and which I believe is the only independent music website endorsed by music industry insiders such as Anthrax’s Joey Belladonna (thanks to his wife who is a friend of mine), Matt Davies-Kreye and Ryan Richards from Funeral for a Friend, Metal Hammer’s Dom Lawson, producers Greg Haver and Romesh Dodangoda who have worked with the likes of Manic Street Preachers, Funeral for a Friend, Bullet for my Valentine, and more. I think my favourite endorsement was from Aled Phillips of Kids in Glass Houses:
“It's so refreshing, in an age where people always expect something in return, to see such a selfless website by someone so tirelessly devoted to giving exposure to the music that they are passionate about. This has the potential to be a massively beneficial resource for fellow music lovers and for those already negotiating the twists and turns of the music industry, alike. Great work, Jayne!”
You can check out all the endorsements on the ‘Endorsements’ page (where else?). PP&P has between 700 to 1,000 views per week, with an audience from all over the world such as Ecuador, India, Uruguay, Switzerland and Japan, and in March (2017) passed 200,000 hits!
Last summer I started a project called ‘Guitars 4 Good’, the strapline of which is ‘Using the power of music as a power of good’. It is a not for profit project which (when it gets going properly) will operate through contributions and proceeds from fundraising gigs and the sale of in-kind donations such as CDs. I have been sent an autographed photograph of Sir Tom Jones by his management as well as pastilles and merchandise donated from Vocalzone (as used by Sir Tom, Stereophonics’ Kelly Jones and Dionne Warwick, amongst others), specifically to auction/sell to raise funds for ‘Guitars 4 Good’. The aim of the project is to raise awareness of childhood cancer and also help the children in various ways, such as with special gifts and ‘music as therapy’ sessions by way of acoustic performances by singer/guitarists on paediatric oncology wards. There is a website – www.guitars4good.co.uk – the Vocalzone goodies are listed on there, and if you feel like you can help out in any way at all then please email me.
So that’s something about me, so you know what I do. From time to time I’ll be spotlighting some of the Welsh bands I work with via JD Music, as well as some from ‘Paradiddles Plectrums and Posers’. Believe me, Wales is inundated with awesome rock music.
Lastly, and not least, I want to say thank you to the guys at the RT Rock Show for inviting me to be a part of their rock world … and of course big thanks to them for supporting up and coming rock artists on their show.
