Welcome to the Steelhouse Festival 2017 daily blog!
Inglorious are a band that have been flying since they hit the scene in 2014. Called 'The Future Of Rock N' Roll' it's easy to see why they've gained such a following. The band are made up of Nathan James on Vocals (who has sung with Trans-Siberian Orchestra and Uli Jon Roth), Andreas Eriksson on Lead Guitar, Drew Lowe on Guitar, Colin Parkinson on Bass and Phil Beaver on Drums. The band are following in the footsteps of the bands that inspired them - namely Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Whitesnake, Bad Company, Aerosmith and The Rolling Stones. They released their second album 'II' on May the 12th on Frontiers Music. It was mixed by Kevin Shirley and has had great praise from the rock world. Check out Inglorious midday on the Saturday.
King King are blues rock band from Glasgow. The band feature Alan Nimmo on Vocals and Guitar, Lindsay Coulson on Bass, Wayne Proctor on Drums and Bob Fridzema on Keyboards. With a sound that fits firmly into UK blues rock (think Thunder), King King are making giant strides in their bid to take over the world. Their fourth album 'Exile and Grace' was mixed by Chris Sheldon and is due for release on October the 6th. Trucker Diablo are a four piece rock band from Northern Island. They are made up of Tom Harte, Simon Haddock, Jim McGurk and Terry Crawford. Described as a cross between Thin Lizzy, Cheap Trick and Rose Tattoo, the band are known for their hardworking, rock n' roll way of doing things. Formed in 2008, they are currently on their third album 'Rise Above The Noise'. With a string of high profile support slots and many festival shows under their belts, the band should be on for to tear Steelhouse a new one! Catch Trucker Diablo on the Free Friday.
Hand Of Dimes
Hand Of Dimes are a soulful melodic rock band based in Ynysybwl. They are made up of Neville MacDonald on Vocals, Neil Garland on Keyboard, Colin Edwards on Lead Guitar, Mark Maybry on Bass and David Stephenson on Drums. Frontman Neville MacDonald is known for his previous band, the rockers Skin. Along with his old friend and song writing partner, keyboardist Neil Garland, both from the Welsh rock band Kooga , they have formed Hand Of Dimes. It is a sound more taken from Kooga, an earthy, soulful bluesy melodic rock with a powerhouse vocal. The debut album 'Raise' is out now on Coda Recordings. Hand Of Dimes return to Steelhouse on the Free Friday night.
The awesome Tequila Mockingbyrd are an all girl trio of straight up rock n roll. Made up of Estelle Artois on Vocals and Guitar, Jess Reily on Bass and Josie O'Toole on drums, they come all the way from sunny Melbourne Australia. A rock n roll band with elements of punk and pop to their sound, they pride themselves on catchy riffs, memorable choruses and explosive live shows. Their debut album 'Fight And Flight' was released internationally on the 24th of March 2017 on Off Yer Rocka. Check them out early on the Saturday.
evival are an alternative rock and metal band from Blackwood in Wales. The band are made up of Finley Nash on Vocals, Luke A Williams on Guitar, Alex Payne on Bass and Dafydd Fuller on Drums. Despite their age being relatively young, the lads are making waves on the UK scene. The band were the winners of the Steelhouse Battle Of The Bands at Fuel Rock Club Cardiff, fighting off some stiff competition. The EP 'Season Of The Wizard' was produced by the legendary Chris Tsangarides and is out now. Catch the band on the Friday night
A band on a continuous rise, Stone Broken are ones that you'll be hearing a lot of in the future. A four piece featuring Rich Moss on Vocals and Guitar, Chris Davis on Guitar, Kieron Conroy on Bass and Robyn Haycock on Drums, they hail from Walsall in the UK. They are a band that musically focus on an arena rock sound with big choruses to get the crowd going. Their debut album 'All In Time' was released on the 29th of January 2016. Having toured with the likes of Glenn Hughes and booked to support Living Colour, you know the band must be doing something right! Catch Stone Broken on the first have of the Saturday.
Florence Black are a three piece rock band from the Valleys of South Wales. Made up of Tristan on Vocals and Guitar, Fozzi on Bass and Perry on the Drums, they have built up a massive local following by playing good old fashioned rock n'roll and always giving it 100% on stage. Currently touring the band are fresh off a headline slot at Swansea's 'Seven Sins Festival' and are booked for Bloodstock Open Air 2017 amongst others! The self titled EP 'Florence Black' is out now!
Jared James Nichols
A blues guitar legend in the making, we are looking forward to catching JJN at Steelhouse this year. The US guitar slinger ticks all the boxes - started playing at 14, hit the stage immediately, grew up minutes away from where Stevie Ray Vaughan played his last gig, sharing the stage with the likes of Buddy Guy and opening for Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Derek Trucks, the guy seems destined for stardom. He is known for his pickless playing style and his energetic live performances, where he puts his single pickup Gibson Les Paul Custom 'Old Glory' through the paces. The Power Trio can be heard on 'Old Glory And The Wild Revival' which is out on Listenable Records. JJN will be playing on the first half of the Sunday this year.
A man that needs no introduction to followers of a classic rock festival! Bernie Marsden is best known for his time as Whitesnake guitarist, co writing many of the early hits including 'Here I Go Again' and 'Fool For Your Loving'. Since then he's played with a loads of bands whilst also pursuing a solo career. Along with his trusty Gibson Les Paul nicknamed 'The Beast', he has become a blues rock legend. Bernie will be playing on the 'Free Friday' and also doing an acoustic set around midway through the Saturday.
Broken Witt Rebels
Hailing from Birmingham, this 4 piece are described as a mix of powerful indie rock and soulful blues and upon listening to the band, you can see why. The band are made up of Danny Core on the Vocals & Rhythm guitar, Luke Davis on Vocals and Bass, James Tranter on Vocals and Lead Guitar and James Dudley on Drums and Percussion. Their latest release is the EP 'Georgia Pine' and is out now. If you're a fan of ''Blues sodden, sultry, humid music displaying all the solidity of a British rock legacy merged with confidence of an atmospheric deep south soulful Americana'' you'll be wanting to check them out! Toby Jepson is back with his brand new band WAYWARD SONS! After the success of Little Angels, Mr Jepson has been keeping himself by by performing with Fastway, Gun and Dio’s Disciples and producing and doing movie work. He has now decided to get himself a new band to conquer the world. Wayward Sons, handpicked by Toby are Nic Wastell (bass, Chrome Molly) Phil Martini (drums, Spear Of Destiny, ex Quireboys, Joe Elliot’s Down and Outs) Sam Wood (guitar, a real new gunslinger from Treason Kings) and Dave Kemp (keys, ex Little Angels touring band and long time sideman to Toby). ''Ghosts Of Yet To Come", the first new album by Toby in over 20 years is out on the 15th September via Frontiers Music.

A rock trio local to us in South Wales, the band are known for their energetic and passionate delivery of good ‘balls to the wall rock and roll’! The Texas Flood are Tom Sawyer on Guitar & Vocal, Ben Govier on Bass & Tom Williams on Drums. With the Steelhouse Festival fast approaching we have decided that to get us all in the festival spirit we will send out a daily post featuring bands that are playing at the festival. We hope you enjoy the feature and we'll see you up the mountain! Steelhouse Festival 2017 Seven years in, the festival is now cemented in its place as one of the top rock festivals in the U.K. Located 'up the mountain' at the Hafod - Y - Dafal farm in Ebbw Vale, it's a great established local festival. The lineup this year is a varied one. Know mainly as a rock festival, the headliners this year have a metal edge to them. Regardless it of genre pigeon holing, the full lineup is complete and a strong one. As the festival goes from strength to strength and it's one we're looking forward to attending again this year.
