JD MUSIC’S UNSIGNED SPOTLIGHT
Static Fires, Swansea. Following on from June’s ‘special’ blog for Mr. Stuart Cable, this month we return to a spotlight feature. One of the first Welsh rock bands I worked with is Swansea’s Static Fires, who produce melodic rock that would suit fans of Foo Fighters, The band is made up of: Sam Randles - Rhythm Guitar, Vocals. Jack Clements - Lead Guitar. Tom Gibbins - Bass. Jack Piper - Drums, Backing Vocals.
They released their self titled debut EP in March 2016 and I worked with 2 of the EP tracks: ‘Spread Your Wings or Learn to Fall’ https://soundcloud.com/jdmusicpromotion/spead-your-wings-or-learn-to-fall and ‘Dinner With a Psychopath’ ("One of my favourite names of a track ever" - Matt Graveling, Best of British Unsigned) https://soundcloud.com/jdmusicpromotion/static-fires-dinner-with-a-psychopath Between them the tracks were played on around 116 stations worldwide, both fm and internet radio, including Amazing Radio and BBC Radio Wales, and received great feedback from presenters including Aaron Phillips who presented the Amazing Radio Rock Show: “Another great band in that burgeoning exciting music scene that is South Wales and The Valleys”
The band also had features on several webzines such as ‘Reverb Room’, with Phil (himself a musician) saying amongst other things: "There's plenty here to enjoy, some lovely songwriting and some great performances that range from heavy and raw to simplistic and delicate." The band gig regularly, having already played with the likes of Buffalo Summer and Richie Ramone. If you are in South Wales on Saturday, July 15th, you can catch Static Fires playing at Hobos in Bridgend, supporting Witterquick, alongside Reckless Intentions and The Caspiens. Check the band’s Facebook page for details. Social Networking: https://www.facebook.com/StaticFires https://twitter.com/StaticFires As always, keep rockin’ and keep dreamin’.
